Viewers especially have a tremendous experience as they watch streaking by of glowing brakes, sparks flying out of the road as the bottom of the car rubs on the track surface as also the flames that spew from the exhaust pipes. Cars readied for night racing also have special effects all over them like positioning of the lights on the sides, of course this is not only for beauty purpose. The main reason is for the judges to be able to distinguish between the winning cars.
However night car racing has its own set of troubles. For example experienced racers know the difficulties they have to face riding during twilight as there is poor visibility. This has caused many safety concerns with the organizers. Most accidents tend to happen during this period as there either too much light shining right into the eyes or too less thus hampering visibility. Since night racing generally also denotes end of racing season, every racer would definitely want to be a part of this exciting ride. And with everyone pushing hard for a slot in this, night car racing fever is catching on and is bound to get more and more popular.

Till sometime back car racing was predominantly the competition between car companies. Each factory like BMW, Audi, Panoz, Cadillac, Corvette, Viper and others brought out best possible models and designs and put them for testing on the car racing tracks. Since then many companies like Chevrolet and Viper have sold their names to private race teams and some models of the BMW were pulled back design flaws in the car are believed to have caused tragic accidents on the racing tracks.
The car companies would spend millions of dollars on research development and bring out their best design. With so much of efforts put into one vehicle, it was crucial for the team to win the race. But as the popularity of private race teams grew, the car companies found it more prudent to sell them the names or models. Unfortunately this has also affected the winning streak of the cars. Private car racing teams generally do not have the kind of dedicated finance required for car racing and over the years the effect of the speed and other extremities start showing on the car’s performance and despite their best efforts the drivers are unable to restore the original glory.

For long now the skills of the driver in a car racing event like the Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series were almost undisputed. However with the passage of time car racing now stands divided between the performances of driver versus driver and machine versus machine. It is events like American Le Mans Series that has brought to the fore the capabilities of the person who builds the machine, here the racing car, instead of the people who actually race it on the track.
In a car racing event where drivers are pitted against the capability of other drivers, the cars become more competitive. Since the features in each of the competing car will almost be similar, the best driver wins. But this also means that numerous drivers have a chance to compete and it will not be only one team that wins all events or wins every time at a particular event. However the drawback here is the cars are not prepared to its best standards as it is the skill or smartness of the driver that helps win the race and the car is but just a medium to win. Also the technological advancement that does occur in the vehicle takes time to be converted into the race car.

Like any other sport, car racing also needs practice. The upper most things in the mind of the car racing driver would be consistency at pre-race as also during race routines. Like for an athlete it is only preparation for the competition that helps the driver win and hence having regular car racing routines are a must. It is also very important for the driver to have realistic goals. They can make it as challenging as possible and strive to achieve it too. These goals should be set in discussion with the other team member and preferably be broken up into short-term and long terms goals.
Then achieving them would be much easier. Of course car racing is an adrenaline pumping sport and almost no car racing driver would have a problem “pumping up his adrenaline”. But what is more important is to learn to control this adrenaline rush and utilize the additional energy to get to the winning line. While it is important to be all pumped up when you are behind the wheels, it is also important to learn how to relax yet focus and concentrate on your goal. A good car racing driver will make consistently wise decisions and come winning through “clutch” situations.

With all the emphasis being laid on environmental friendliness of the cars, how can car racing models lag far behind? Many models of racing cars have been developed that can run on E85. E85 fuel is a mixture of high amounts of ethanol and less amounts of gasoline. Some of the benefits of this fuel are cleaner burning, less emissions of carbon-di-oxide and it is completely renewable
Ethanol requires a different compression ratio for peak performance and efficiency. This is a problem for average vehicles but car racing enthusiasts can actually benefit from this. The octane level of ethanol is above 100 which make it ideal for high performance racing. To make the car compatible for E85 usage, mechanics fit the racing car with a specialized fuel injection system. Mechanics have been making these changes for long now and E85 has become a very popular fuel on most car racing circuits. This is an added benefit to the racing industry as car racing is normally viewed as a pollution emitting sport. But with the usage of E85 not only will the image have a boost but the expenses on fuel will also come drastically down. As more and more drivers and mechanics resort to E85 as the most preferred fuel, car racing will have a different perspective.

Car racing is not limited to a specific sport type. Some of the variations in the sport are the Formula 1 racing, which of course is considered a glamorous sport frequented by the rich and famous. The other form is Rallycross which is a sprint style racing performed on compact circuits. The third type is the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing or NASCAR which is known for speed and agility. The latest entrant is the drifting in which the driver oversteers the car on purpose so as to lose traction in rear wheels. All through vehicle control has to be maintained despite the amazingly high speed.
The next type is the World Rally Championship which is believed to be one of the most challenging and demanding car racing events in the world. Here the driver races at high speed on tracks of gravel, asphalt, mud and snow at temperatures ranging from minus 30-40 degrees centigrade. The next is the drag racing in which two or three cars race over short distances of quarter of a mile and may last for no more than 15 seconds. The idea of the race is to test acceleration speed of the vehicle, concentration power of the driver, performance modulation and accuracy with gear skills

Long time Formula 1 race driver champ Michael Shumacher remains in good spirit despite poor start for his comeback driving career. Shumacker, a living legend in the racing world, a seven time F-1 champ was i guess too board sitting at home, and in good shape physically and mentally, decided to come back and give it another go, and try to see if he can still compete with the youngsters of the sport.
And, while he did start rather poorly and un-Shumacher like driving, don't count him out just yet. he proved so many times over his career that he is made of championship material and he will have plenty to say come racing time.
